Environmental Issues

Oxley Conservation believe that we should pass on to future generations what we have inherited, not just our buildings, but also our natural resources and wildlife. We adopt a holistic approach to conservation that encompasses all these elements, and we always aim to find sustainable solutions to building conservation problems.

This environmental stance is reflected in Oxley Conservation's Code of Practice.

Oxley Conservation now have a long term partnership with Peter Warm Environment Conscious Building Services to provide environmental testing of traditional buildings. Together the two firms are developing solutions to enable the energy consumption of traditional buildings to be lowered without compromising the performance of those buildings.

Oxley Conservation prefer to specify materials for projects that come from renewable, sustainable sources, have low embodied energy, come from local sources, have low toxicity during manufacture and use. In accord with both conservation and ecological principles we will encourage the retention of the maximum amount of existing fabric.

Oxley Conservation also has high environmental standards for its own operations, which we are endeavouring to continually improve.
